History and Recent Track Record of Real Madrid

Real Madrid fans may be stewing over the recent string of success enjoyed by their hated rivals, FC Barcelona, however, even Barca cannot compete with the storied and successful history of Real Madrid C.F. For all their beautiful football, Arsenal’s constant string of short passes once again failed to penetrate the two banks of five and four red shirtsthat face them.

FIFA Women’s World Cup 2011 Controversy: Did Referee Melksham Favour Brazil Against USA?

USA beat Brazil in the quarter-finals of the FIFA Women’s World Cup, a result that looked unlikely after the Americans were reduced to 10 players on the pitch, when midfielder Rachel Buehler was given marching orders by referee Jacqui Melksham. Had USA not scraped through in a penalty shoot out, after a 2-2 thriller, in regulation time, Buehler’s red card would probably have become a major controversy. Not because it was not deserved but because of other incidents that appeared to point to refereeing bias.

 History of the Soccer Ball

The soccer ball’s history is as rich, protracted and varied as the game it serves. Although their evolution can be traced to ancient history and cultures, the history dates back to more recent times – the 19th century. How the Women’s World Cup 1995 Teaches About the Importance of Stretching

Although stretching is important for all soccer players, a warm up and cool down is even more important for older soccer players. To be a successful soccer team on the international level, one key is to avoid injuries. I learned this firsthand (the pre and post game routines, including lots of stretching) by observing some of the best athletes in the world, the U.S. women’s national soccer team, as they competed in the Women’s World Cup in Sweden during the summer of 1995.

Chelsea’s hopes of retaining their crown have faded but the champions could still hope to displace Arsenal in second position. West Brom, in mid-table, appear safe – for now– from the relegation mine, but are merely seven points adrift of West Ham in 18th place. Any points salvaged from Saturday’s game would help, in an extremely tight season.
