Glen Johnson began his football career with the West Ham United youth academy before signing a professional contract in 2001 before he joined Chelsea in 2003 for a fee of £6 million. As his first team opportunities became more limited at Chelsea, he was loaned to Portsmouth in 2006 before making his transfer complete the following season. After a successful spell at Portsmouth Glen Johnson signed for Liverpool in 2009.
