2010 FIFA World Cup – The Super Annoying Vuvuzela Buzz

How annoying are the Vuvuzelas at the 2010 FIFA World Cup. They wreck the atmosphere and sound like bees buzzing or a swarm of bees. It just sounds silly and it ruins the atmosphere. You can barely hear anything else. The vuvuzela is also called a lepatata. Some like to call it the stadium horn.

The horn is about 1 metre in length and has made itself famous at the 2010 World Cup in South Africa. A lot of the fans are blowing into these long horns and creating a buzzing sound. It emits a very loud sound. The sound is monotone and extremely annoying. The buzz is roughly at Bb or B flat. Football fans in South America make use of this instrument during games.

The noise that it produces is deafening and can cause permanent noise-induced hearing loss. It is a very large safety risk because diseases like cold and flu can spread through blowing into this horn. At over 120 decibels the sound produced by these horns is definitely not good for the ear. For unprotected ears, the sound pressure level is extremely high.

There are different models and makes of this instrument and a new one that has been released claims to have a reduced noise level. I don’t see how the buzzing sound adds anything but annoyance to the atmosphere. It literally ruins the soccer match and you can’t hear the crowd at all.

I rather hear the crowd chanting than the monotone sounds of the horn. I don’t see why they put a ban on these horns or make them not as loud. Soccer jerseys are a fantastic way to show your support for a team. There is no need to cause a nuisance by making silly buzzing noises and giving everyone around you a headache. I really believe that if you want to support your favourite soccer team and enjoy a match, all you need to do is sport your team’s soccer jersey and cheer for them.

Cheering and clapping are alright when it comes to a soccer match. No need to ruin it for everyone. I don’t see how the players even hear each other talking. Without players communicating properly, it is hard for a team to achieve proper team work.

In conclusion, the vuvuzela is an annoying instrument played at the 2010 World Cup matches. I would like to see them banned or modified so they don’t sound any where near as loud as they do now.
