Soccer is an interesting game which is full of excitement and thrill, twists and turns, risks and shocks. No one can predict the game. The whole game can change within minutes. Many players have tried their luck in this game, but very few proved and established themselves as renowned soccer players.

Following are some of the famous soccer players known for their on-field brilliance throughout the world:

The best of all soccer players is Pele. A Brazilian player, whose actual name is Edison Arantes do Nascimento, played the first World Cup at the age of 15 and scored two goals. He has been dubbed as King of Soccer. The International Olympic Committee selected him as The Athlete of The Century. In his 25-year playing career, Pele scored one thousand goals. Time Magazine has also selected him as one of the 100 Most Influential People of the 20th Century.

Diego Armando Maradona, an Argentine player, was widely famous for his astonishing footwork. His unique style of scoring goals after goals made him a celebrated player. In his 26 years (1975-2001) of career, he earned name and fame, and established himself as a football icon. He was also quite a bit in the news for his on field and off field exploits.

Hristo Stoichkov, a successful soccer player from Bulgaria, started his career with CSKA Sofia. He played for FC Barcelona and won the Spanish Primera Division. He got worldwide recognition four times during his playing career. In 2003, he bid adieu to the game and retired from all forms of the game.

David Robert Joseph Beckham got the opportunity to represent the England thrice in the World Cup. In 1991, he started his career when he 16 years old and got selected for the Manchester United team five years later. He represented the English football team as a captain in 2006 FIFA World Cup. He has reached iconic status in international soccer.
