Successful Soccer Players

Soccer is such an unpredictable game full of all sorts of twists, tricks and turns. You just never know what is going to happen from one minute to another.

There are many people throughout the world that try to make a name for them-selves in this game. Unfortunately not all of them make the grade when it comes to becoming a world renowned player.

Here are just a few of those that did manage to succeed on the field of play.

Where else could we start apart form that great Brazilian soccer player Pele. Edison Arantes Do Nascimento Pele actually made his world cup debut at the tender age of just 15 and still managed to score a couple of goals. Pele was also awarded the honor of the athlete of the Century by the International Olympic committee.

In a career spanning a quarter of a Century Pele managed to amass an amazing 1,000 goals. He was also reported to be one of the top 100 most influential people of the 20th Century by Time magazine.

Argentina’s answer to Pele was Diego Maradona. This man had awesome footwork and was a real live wire on the soccer pitch.

Maradona played between 197 and 2001 and really established himself in the world of soccer. Unfortunately he has since made his name off the field too in some of his exploits.

Then there was Hristo Stoichkov the famous Bulgarian soccer player. This man started his career playing for CSKA Sofia then went on to play for Barcelona where he won the Spanish Primera division with them. After his retirement in 2003 not a lot has been heard from this man as he seems to have quit the game in all capacities.

Finally there is David Beckham from England. He got his big break in the game at just 16 years old in 1991. Soon he went to Manchester United and really started to become recognized for his great style of play. Beckham has represented England in three world cups with the pinnacle being made captain for the 2006 World cup.
