For Newcastle, Caroll missed an early chance to score, when the match was barely eight minutes old.
It was quite a crucial miss, after which, Manchester United got themselves into their attacking rhythm and won the match 3-0.
For Manchester United, Nani and Scholes were spot on with their passing. In the 32nd minute, Scholes made a pass to Berbatov, who made no mistake to strike it past the bottom right corner of the goal.
The Newcastle goalkeeper, Harper, was left clueless.
The second goal was a brilliant one which came in the 41st minute, when Nani’s beautiful pass found Evra, who struck it past Rooney, who managed to get a leg on the ball, to deflect it to Fletcher who finally tapped it into the goal.
Wayne Rooney was taken off in the 63rd minute and replaced by Javier ‘Chicharito’ Hernandez.
‘Chicharito’ has quite a reputation for scoring quick goals but didn’t have too much role to play in this match.
In the 70th minute, Nani was replaced by Ryan Giggs. 15 minutes later, the third goal was scored by the substitute, Ryan Giggs. It was Scholes again who played a lovely ball into the air, and Giggs volleyed it into Newcastle’s net.
For most of the game, Scholes was quite dominant, along with Rooney and Berbatov missing a few opportunities which could have easily been converted into goals.
Throughout the match, Newcastle struggled for possession, which never lasted for more than a few minutes, when they did get hold of the ball.
May be the Newcastle Manager Chris Hughton should have experimented a bit to change around things, with four strikers sitting on the bench, in Nile Ranger, Xisco, Shola Ameobi and Haris Vuckic.
