It is NO shocker that people call in not knowing this is a joke and are more than willing to argue to death, because most of them would argue with a fence post if they had the chance.

Phil has said that every caller is real (not the guest) and that if you think everyone should already be in on it, you’d be surprised. He said that the kind of people who call in are the kind of people who just want to be on the air and call various shows regularly. They go through a heavy screening process, too, so that fake callers don’t get on, etc. It’s an amazing process.

I could never understand how people could call in and say they listened all the time yet they are so dumb they don’t know he is doing all the voices.

It would be really funny if he also did the irate callers….as well as the guests and himself.

I used to listen to this show every night. I’ve always described as like a puppet show where dumb people in the audience will sometimes start to argue with the puppets.
